About us

Who We Are: Compassion in Action

Our Story

Free African Society Canada was founded on a deep commitment to social justice and a passion for uplifting African and marginalized communities across the country. Born from the lived experiences of immigrants, activists, and community leaders, the organization was created to fill the gaps often left by traditional systems—where the most vulnerable often go unseen.

Our founders saw a need not just for services, but for safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported—whether arriving as refugees, navigating mental health struggles, or seeking a place to belong.

From modest beginnings in community centers and church basements, we’ve grown into a dynamic network that delivers health programs, legal and financial aid referrals, and outreach to those facing housing insecurity. Yet our mission remains unchanged: to empower lives through culturally rooted care and connection.

Every initiative we lead is powered by real stories, real needs, and real people—like you—who believe that change starts with compassion.
